Papillon

The Papillon is a
small, friendly, elegant toy dog of fine-boned structure. They
a
lso called as the “Continental Toy Spaniel”.
They distinguished from other breeds by its beautiful
butterfly-like ears. Papillons are Beautiful with dark,
round, and alert in expression of eyes. Ears of the erect type are carried
obliquely and move like the spread wings of a butterfly.
Papillons are white with markings of any color. Tricolors
and black & white are common colors. The head is
slightly rounded between the ears, and the muzzle is
fine. Tail is long and well fringed. The Papillon coat is
abundant, long, and silky.

Temperament:
The Papillon
is sometimes called the butterfly dog - because the
ears look like butterfly wings. They are
always Happy, alert
and friendly. They are neither shy nor aggressive.
Their activity level is moderate. It can also be calm,
patient and gentle. Some papillons can be timid or
nervous. They are excited to make new friends, but can
be slightly timid with new people. They get along well
with other pets and children, but are not afraid to
challenge bigger dogs and possessive of its owner. The
breed's talents include watch dogging, agility,
competitive obedience and performing
tricks.
Exercise
needs:
Papillonneeds an
average amount of exercise.
Play will
take care of a lot of their exercise needs.
ThePapillon can
obtain their exercise indoors, but love to take walks
outside.
Trainability:
The Papillon is very
trainable and is seen participating in several areas of
competition, including the show ring, obedience, agility,
tracking and even herding. They
can be
trained to perform small
tricks.
Nutrition &
Diet:
A low protein balanced diet can help the
Papillon to live healthy. Feed a good quality dog
food.Feed only as much as your Papillon can consume. Watch
to make sure your dog is not gaining too much extra
weight, as this is a health
hazard. Make sure that your dog always has access to
fresh water.
Living
conditions:
The Papillon is an active indoor
breed.
Life expectancy:
Papillons are normally a long-lived healthy toy
breed of dog. The usual life expectancy of a Papillon is
somewhere between 12 and 16 years of
age.

The Breed has
two countries listed as its home, France & Belgium
and The Papillon is one of the oldest breeds of dog
around.
