Lundehund

The Lundehund has
another name as “Norwegian Puffin
Dog”.
Lundehunds are truly unique and distinctive with several
characteristics setting them apart from other breeds.
They have 6 toes and they can turn their head 180
degrees. Their limbs can extend out to 90 degrees from
their bodies. They have the ability to close their ears
when they get wet. Their coat is short and can be from a
reddish-brown to fallow with black hair tips. They may
also have white markings.
Height 'n Weight:
Height: Males: 13 inches to 15 inches and
Females: 12 inches to 13 inches
Weight: Males: Approximately 15 Pounds and
Females: 13 Pounds.
Temperament:
The Lundehund is
energetic, intelligent, affectionate, gentle, loyal, playful,
observant and easygoing. They are wonderful devoted companion
with a great disposition and never aggressive toward people or
other dogs. Lundehunds are happy and lively. They are
affectionate and fun, and will sometimes resort to primitive
hunting skills within the household. They truly enjoy being
with family. They are friendly with other dogs. Most love to
meet others of their species, even if they are a little shy
around people.
Exercise
needs:
Lundehunds need
plenty of exercise, and this breed quite enjoys exercise. They
need a long walk daily. Also owner should be played with them
daily.
Trainability:
The Lundehund breed
is known as stubborn but playful. Once fully trained they make
excellent pets. Discipline will never work on these dogs, and
if you can find someone who knows about or breeds Lundies, it
shouldn't be much trouble at all to train
them.
Nutrition
& Diet:
A low protein
balanced diet can help the Papillon to live healthy. Make sure
that your dog always has access to fresh
water.
Living
conditions:
They are active
breed that would be perfect for homes where there are things
going on to keep their active minds
stimulated.
Life
expectancy:
12 years is average.
A healthy Lundehund can live about 14
years.
Origin:
This is a small dog
breed originating from
Norway
. The name Lundehund
is a combination of the Norwegian words "lunde", the Puffin
bird, and "hund", meaning dog. Originally, they were bred to
hunt and retrieve the Puffin.
